Fiberglass Doors

Hand painted wood grained doors painted on Fiberglass. The stone work was also hand painted highlighted with the use of the airbrush.

These light weight doors are made out of fiberglass and painted to look like real wooden doors. Faux bois (from the French for false wood) refers to the artistic imitation of wood or wood grains in various media. The craft has roots in the Renaissance with trompe-l’œil.
It is often characterized by a more realistic look in both composition and coloring, as well as a more finely detailed finish than comparable European work.
Airbrush is used in both the stone work and the wood work to make a blended transparent layer. Since this piece will be used for out doors applied several coats of varnish.
