World-Renowned Decorative Artist, John Kiernan
John Kiernan began to display strong artistic talent and interest in drawing and painting. John studied Advertising, Art & Design in college and although he initially pursued a career as an Art Director, working at some of the top Ad agencies in NY. In 1987 John joined the Southampton Village Police Department located in New York and later joined the Fairfax County Police Department in Fairfax VA. John continued his art by creating national logos, murals and paintings which helped raised money for the Law Enforcement family, to include fallen officers and the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
In 2001, John attended several faux finishing, wood graining and marbling classes in Floral Park, NY. He accepted a position at a decorative arts company in Mclean, VA, that specialized in trompe l’oeil and mural painting. In 2002 he decided to branch out on his own and he created Blue Line Studios. In 2004, he won “Best Ceiling” ” and “Best Mural” in the Faux Academy which was held in Las Vegas. Graham Rust, a well-known and highly respected artist from London selected John’s art work as the winner of these two categories.
In 2005, John was invited to join the elite group of international decorative painters at their annual gathering called “Salon”. Salon is a gathering, which is attended by over one hundred renowned Decorative Artists and Muralists, representing fifteen countries.

Since 2001 john has either participated or taught in the following schools: The Finishing School, Kelly King Institute, Dimensions Plaster, FL, and the Pierre Finkelstein Painting Institute, NY. He has studied in Europe with Vigini Studios of San Antonio, Texas and The Bottega D’Arte, Florence, Italy to keep on top of the latest design trends and finishes.
